That IS nice

I'm wondering what you guys think would be a fair and reasonable price for that car since it sounds as though you don't think they'll get what they're asking.

A beauty!

Though I did get an involuntary shudder when I saw the close-up pic of the Grand Prix.

As for price, I'd probably drop $15K on it.

I was looking for another car. Thought you were talking about a Pontiac in the background.
What's the significance of the Grand Prix? Is that unusual?

I agree, $15K would be about the number for "fail and reasonable", IMHO.

But, remember, you might not find another like it for quite awhile.......therfore........if you have to have a showroom 300SDL.......you might pay $30K.

Personally, I couldn't justify it, even if I had the money to spend.

The car was 59K in 1987. Even in todays dollars, 29K seems like a lot for it no matter the condition.

Who knows what problems you will encounter when it's a daily driver.....it is nice though.

15K seems about right.

Shoot, mine has 352k and I've spent almost 10k between purchasing and bringing it up to snuff and it is not nearly that clean. Mine is a 7.5 out of 10, maybe. That's a 10.

Old cars that nice are not for daily driving. They're the "sunday drive" type cars or used for special occaisions or driving it on a nice trip when the weather permits. Daily driver w126's are usually high mileage and not that CLEAN like the one on ebay.

If I were to get a low mileage w126,w124,w123.... I'd use it sparingly and try to preserve it as much as I can. However, if the car is higher mileage.... its to be FLOGGED

lol...sorry, should have been more specific.

The Gran Brix is the horrible Becker stereo head unit that comes with the car. Mine had one too. It was replaced quickly.

They do however make excellent door stops or paper weights. Alternately, you can use it as a jackstand so as not to mar the surface of your driveway when changing your tires...

The Grandprix radio on my folks' 300SDL worked great even when we sold it in 2003. I guess we were lucky.

Brian, if you want it, it'll make a special trip up to the Bay Area to make sure it checks out

They should've taken a q-tip or some such device, and cleaned the trunklid emblem better. Especially around the 3 and the S, and the D.
I'll forgive the waterspot on the backseat portion of the electric seat control.

I just spotted this one...a bit newer, fewer miles, and less money. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1995-Mercedes-S420-9-585-1-owner-miles_W0QQitemZ160020257055QQihZ006QQcategoryZ6331QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

If I had the money, I'd be all over that car. I have known about it for awhile, if I had the means it would be in my garage by now. I think $20k would be a fair price, I'd just be feeling pretty happy with an SDL that mint sitting in my garage.

I enjoy perfection, and that car would do it for me. Throw on a nice set of period AMG wheels, wax and detail until you can have lunch on the rear trailing arm, oh yeah.
