No wonder it's not available in the USA. Look how small the engines are and it even comes with a diesel.

* 1.9 L Fiat diesel I4, 120 hp (88 kW)
* 1.9 L Fiat turbodiesel I4, 150 hp (110 kW)
* 2.0 L Ecotec I4, high-output turbo, 210 hp (154 kW)
* 2.8 L HFV6 V6, turbo, 250 hp (184 kW)

Not bad. The 2.8 motor produces 250 hp.

Some of the new Caddy's are not bad. The CTSV is a pretty decent car. Still cheap feeling compared to a MB or BMW but its fast.

Are you to say that in this day and age, car makers are STILL selling non-turbo diesels?

ditto- anyone remember the diesel engine they tried to do back in the 80's? It wasn't so good.

What about the Cimmaron? LOL

Something tells me this is a much better car than the last baby-sedan from Caddy. Naturally it is not going to be available here in the U.S., like most appealing modern cars. I still hold some grudges towards GM's raping of Saab when they phased out the personality and quality that made the Saab nameplate special. But I will say, this new BLS looks pretty darn refreshing after a long day on the roads boxed in at every angle by Escalades and the like.

I rented a Saab with that TD engine and a manual this spring when I was in Europe. It was the nicest package I've ever driven it was smooth, quiet and had power everywhere. It averaged 6 l/100km for the trip and we seemed to hit rush hour traffic everyday and did a lot of city driving. When I got back home I had to check if it was available here, that it's not is a damn shame.

remember the Allante?

Speaking of which, anyone ever had one? Was it any good?

I love the look and I'm still keeping an eye out for one, with the Northstar engine. Not sure what I'd do if I find a nice one.

But that one was for the American market, never saw one in Europe. If an European thinks about America, it's about route 66, Harley's, drive-ins, Elvis, movie stars and big big Cadillacs. It's the end of the American dream, if it ever excised.

The Allante

I liked the Allante back when I didn't like any other Cadillacs. I saw one for sale near my house recently. Had about 60K on the clock and they wanted $10K for it. It was nice, but not THAT nice.
