Does anyone care now that the truth about the Pflame affair
the Valerie Pflame affair is finally coming out?
The "leak" was a Bush critic, and it was played for political purposes. I am shocked, shocked to hear that there are politics being conducted in Washington

The leaker also happened to be Bush's Deputy Secretary of State at the time.
And what of Rove's role in confirming Plame's supposed involvement in her husband's mission to Niger? Does that mean nothing now? And why do we still not have a clear explanation of why the 16 words were in the 2003 State of the Union when the CIA told the White House that the 16 words were not backed up by the evidence? If I understand your intent, you are asking Bush's critics to be fair. Will his supporters do the same? Or will we get the Hannity treatment - "See, it was Armitage the whole time and he hated the invasion of Iraq, blah, blah, blah." The whole thing stinks to high heaven. |

According to the Iraqi in charge of the Niger visit, he was trying to buy yellow-cake. The CIA read the evidence one way and the British intelligence read it another way. I don't know what the accuracy is of British intelligence services, but the CIA couldn't find it's own ass if it had a flashlight and written directions.

Are you saying the media and some politicians jumped on this half-ass story for political reasons? I expected more from both of them - any more issues like this and I'm going to start questioning their honor and dedication.

Some people care
The outing of Valerie Pflame is typical MO for the White House. It seems as though whatever the White House wants, it gets, no matter how many bodies have to be stepped over to carry out their agenda.
It is not a matter of political parties or conservative or liberal, it is all about that exposing the identity of an undercover CIA agent is against the law.

The goofy explanation of "my dog ate my homework" is typical of somebody who didn't do his homework. --------------------------------------------------------------------- "It is not a matter of political parties or conservative or liberal, it is all about that exposing the identity of an undercover CIA agent is against the law." Not even the special prosecutor has alleged that Plame was covert when she was outted. So the most accurate description would be that her legal position was ambiguous. But I'm with you on this: Whomever outted Plame should be prosecuted. Win or lose, it would put the charge to rest. B |

If the White House claimed to have conflicting info and made a judgement that the 16 words were accurate, then I would (a) assume they are lying as usual and (b) admit that I can't prove it. The White House, however, didn't claim to have conflicting info. They said they "forgot" the CIA's warning.

I don't care. She wasn't a real spy, just a diplomat's wife in desperate need of a role of some sort to play. Who cares?

That's why it's nonsense -- just another proxy through which the same false political dichotomy plays out. They'd take similarly vehement sides over the Battle between Coke and Pepsi if it was politically advantageous to someone. Ketchup on fries? Milk in your tea? Mac or PC? Betamax or VHS? Cornbread with or without sugar? Cheese on your burger? Are cats better pets, or are dogs? Completely retarded. Ultimately meaningless.
