Ice

Got this in an email from my dad.
Anyone else hear this good spam yet?

The concept of "ICE" is catching on quickly. It is simple, yet an important method of contact during emergency situations. As cell phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a person or persons who should be contacted during an emergency as "ICE" (meaning In Case of Emergency).

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when they went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which numbers to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose.

Following a disaster in London, the East Anglican Ambulance Service has launched a national "In Case of Emergency (ICE)" campaign.

In an emergency situation, Emergency Services personnel and hospital staff would then be able to quickly contact your next of kin, by simply dialing the number stored as "ICE."

Please forward this. It won't take too many "forwards" before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest.

For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A great idea that will make a difference.

*** Great Idea... ***

I've "ice'd" my cell about 18 months ago...the wife had a heart-attack and we were relying on the old "med. info. in the wallet trick" to keep everything straight.

And w/the amount of information these newer cell phones can hold, you can practically put the info. in there.

HOWEVER...

just like everything else (where your personal information (PI) is concerned) you need to be pretty responsible about where your cellphone is at all times...much like your wallet...remember, you're making the PI available to whoever/whomever (Mr. Linguistic Guy, which is correct? :D ) gets ahold of your unit for whatever purpose.

:D

This is a great idea. I printed it and will hang it on the bulletin board at the hospital.

Hmmm.

ICE in the British car and tuner magazines always meant In Car Entertainment
(the stereo systems)

They do this in Houston too - I set up my phone and my wife's phone about a year ago.
