Audio question---non political!

My audio reciever died. It was a Dolby surround sound JVC. It was perfect for me. It had inputs for phono and tape and audio tape monitor as well as the video stuff. Nothing I see in my price range available now has inputs for phono or even audio tape.
I know I can use a preamp and the AUX input for phono, but can anybody recommend a reciever that has the inputs I want for something around $200-250?

thanks, but with that one I'd have to give up the dolby digital/ surround.

Maybe I'll just have to get into the 90s and give up the vinyl and tape.

What's wrong with the old one? Does the phono stage work? If so, you can just LP->Phonostage->lineout->linein on your new receiver.

It died a catastrophic death. There is NOTHING when you try to power it up. No lights, no hum, no static, no clicks, pops or crackle. no nothing.

I opened up the cover to check for fuses and they are fine.

Beyond the replacing of fuses, I am over my head.

Wow, 10 responses! There HAS to be some great recommendations in 10 responses.
Imagine my disappointment.... I was BOTanized

By the way, Bot, your signature image reminded me. I made a reference to the movie last week to a secretary in my office and I got a totally blank look. I asked her if she had not seen the movie, NO, and not Blazing Saddles, either. I loaned her a copy of Young Frankenstein with instructions to watch it as a part of her education. What do they teach kids in school these days?

For what we are about to see next, we must enter quietly into the realm of genius.

Why not repair the JVC? How old is it? I used to do their warranty repair.

It could be a simple thermal fuse in the power transformer primary.

So much for the "non-political" aspect of this thread!
