is this a shift lever update kit?
Talk about lost in the translation. I think this is a shift lever adapter that allows you to use the newer bayonet mount knobs with older shift gates. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks, Sixto 93 300SD |

Had a bit of trouble with the translation too, but the pics don't convince me that this is a seamless retrofit.
The lack of a kinked angle on the adapted shaft troubles me. The threading looks narrower as well. Normal shift knob kits with the integrated shaft seem to work fine, so why bother? After all, how many times does one swap shifters during ownership?

I just kinda scanned it.....sounds like they are selling a brand of shifter lever/knob called "Evospeed" (a tuner company?) - it is to replace the stock shifter with one of theirs. I guess it has their logo on it...not sure, I didn't look. (not really interesting in changing the shifter-mine works fine)
I'm not sure where they got seaweed from lol

I generally like MB cars the way they come out of Sindelfingen. I even put older amber corners in my 95 S420 because it seemed like the partially clear corners on the 95 catered to non-traditional tastes. That said, I'd really like to get a shift knob with an MB logo like was available on the 96-up S-class. Unfortunately they changed shift gate designs so I can't just fit the seprate knob and lever in my 93.
There are a ton of aftermarket knobs on the old style lever but I don't want wood, I don't want wood and leather, I don't want carbon fiber and leather... I just want an MB logo! I heard that Perf Prods has a kit but I'm have some history with them that I'd rather forget. Thanks, Sixto 93 300SD |
