Don't use Fed-Ex(crement)

I want to urge any of you who use any shipping services to please not use Fed-Excrement under any circumstance.
I had an issue which I had no control over. Someone one was trying to ship me a package using them. Basically what happened was Fed-Excrement carelessly unloaded the package while making a delivery to someone else. The package would have been lost had it not been for the person at whose house it been left at found it and called me. Rather that have Fed-Excrement try to re-deliver it to me, I simply picked it up from the nice person who let me know about it. SO... I called Fed-Excrement to let them know what had happened. I also asked to be contacted by the local Fed-Excrement office to find out why such a thing could have happened. It took some time to get a call back. I actually had to call several times to get an answer. When I did, I got this rude and callous woman who identified herself as a supervisor. Basically the call went nowhere and in fact she tried to make me look like it was my fault that it all turned out the way it did. Imagine that!
I've read on the net that my kind of experience is actually common. Fed-Excrement gets very defensive when it comes to fault and they'll say anything rather than admit any fault whatsoever.
To heck with them. There's many other companies who will appreciate yours and my business.
Feel free to share your comments and/or experiences about them or any other shipper for that matter.

Hate to clue you in to the secret regarding this, but, UPS and Airborne (now DHL) are just as bad.

If they don't deliver your package to the correct address, you are SOL unless you've take out the insurance.

Now, if you have insurance, and they damage the item in transit, a company like UPS will blame you for improper packaging and deny the claim. The fact that the item was double packed with 4" of bubble wrap between the inside carton and the outside carton is of no consequence. They should be permitted to drop it from a 10' height as far as they are concerned. After you then file in small claims court against them, they finally settle and pay the bill.

None of these companies give a crap about your package...........of that you can be assured.

Friend of mine works for a company that until just last week used to use DHL - they quit using them, because they lost too many overnight deliveries, and they were pricey too.
Apparently on the positive side, they are supposed to be quite good when it comes to international packages.

I'm sure that 99% of the packages get to their destination without damage or loss.

Fedex has lost a package once for me and UPS has damaged several packages.

DHL is used infrequently and they have not lost or damaged anything to date.

Naturally, unless you ship thousands of packages per year, your experience cannot be considered "typical" no matter what happens to your package.

fedex

You intercepted a package which had not been delivered to you. Once you chose to do that you should know all rights to complain went out the window. My experience with fedex over many years has been far above the high cost UPS and way above anything from USPS. That's been over thousands of shipments.

I just had to call today, the package on track said "Incorrect Address" turns out the drivers just stupid, and despite all the packages that have come here, they couldnt find my place, been a half hour away for a week. I called said can I just get it, or have it sent someplace else because your all stupid? She says no, it has to get cleared back through the shipper and blah blah.

Sorry, but I just don't get it. Why did you find it necessary to make a big deal out of this with FedEx? You got your package, apparently in good order. Be happy and move on.....

I prefer Fed-Ex to UPS. They screwed up less. Only 1 so far and I use UPS quite a bit too. DHL was ok. Actually, I have been happy with most of them so far as far a getting the package there. UPS gets it there but sometimes the tracking is not as good as I would like it to be.

I work for FedEx. I deal with the IT side of things but I am all too familiar with the delivery side of things. I frequently visit different stations and even ride with the couriers on their routes to get a feel for their work, and how to make their tools work better for them.

Our local call center is located in our building. Many of the folks there are professional at their job, but I've met a few that I wouldn't let handle any of my affairs, much less track a package for me or handle a claim!

As stated, I believe the service industry in general has a rough time finding decent people to handle that aspect of the job. The pay is marginal, their performance is closely monitored, and very little academic skills are required for the job. The turnover is high, so there's little pride in doing a good job.

I apologize for your experience with FedEx, and I know certain people within the company who would have made sure the folks involved no longer worked for us if they had gotten wind of that. We spend a great deal of time and money instilling a sense of doing "whatever it takes" to make sure the customer has a good experience with us.

The market share domestically is at a saturation point where new business means taking it away from someone else (DHL, UPS, etc.). None of the carriers can afford to have their front-end people "dissing" customers like that!

I would urge you to write to FedEx c/o Customer Relations. Report your experience including the date this happened and if you have names, that would be better. We have policies in place to handle misdelivered packages, but making the customer the "scapegoat" is NOT one of them...

At the marina receive and ship literaly thousands of things a year. Our suppliers run there own trucks and of course these provide the best service. Never had a damaged package that I can recall.

Now as far as UPS vs Fedex they are about the same. I do notice the Fedex guys move much faster, and I have to give the edge to Fedex. We get some beat up box's but most are from UPS.

Remember my story about Windows and the email closing package, I did not mention the Fed Ex part because it was not noteworthy at the time I posted BUT

The lady who could not handle technology at all said Fex Ex was 100% reliable, everyone in the room laughed out loud...in a professional smug way of course.

I agree with Brian Carlton's sentiment that the vast majority of packages - for all shippers - arrive at their intended destinations without incident. One would have to know the results of many, many shipments to get any decent handle on the statistics.

For my own shipping, my experience using FedEx Ground during the past couple of years has been very satisfactory. I have yet to have a package lost or damaged. I imagine the day will come when there's a problem, but that hasn't happened yet - we'll see how it goes if and when. Their estimates for transit time have been accurate, and they seem (to me, at least) to deliver stuff around the country rather speedily, considering that I'm almost exclusively using their ground service. The rates are competitive, and I find their on-line system to be a piece of cake to use.
