Fla Representative, Hasner calling on State DOT to yank Citgo from all it's turnpike locations. An excellent lead to follow...

As it is, their contract with 7-11's is just about over, and won't be renewed.

I've been a Citgo customer for over 20 years. Today I passed by my usual Citgo station for the next one even though the price at Citgo was $.03 per gallon less. Keep in mind I buy $800 of gas per month. It's worth it to me.

Last time I use Citgo.

Not a bad idea, is BP still British owned? If so lets give the Brits the contract.

I never used Citgo in my life....only Exxon. I'm glad Florida is doing such a thing; this should actually be done all over the country.

From the Wall Street Journal:

7-Eleven to Drop
Citgo as Supplier,
Brand Its Own Gas
By STEVE LEVINE
September 28, 2006

Convenience-store operator 7-Eleven said it won't attempt to renew its 20-year supply contract with Citgo Petroleum Corp., the Venezuelan state-owned company, and it fired a parting shot at Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

The Dallas company said yesterday that filling stations at its 2,100 fuel-selling outlets will change to the 7-Eleven brand by 2008. The company's contract with Citgo expires Saturday.

7-Eleven, an indirect subsidiary of Japan's Seven & I Holdings Co., had spoken for at least 18 months about shifting from Citgo to other suppliers, and Citgo itself has been lessening its supply commitments because of huge losses on the sales.

Last week, Mr. Chavez again stirred up criticism in the U.S. by calling President Bush "the devil." Houston-based Citgo is a subsidiary of state-owned Petroleos de Venezuela SA. But 7-Eleven spokeswoman Margaret Chabris said the company's decision to stop buying gas from Citgo had nothing to do with politics. Still, she added that the company "has been getting a lot of questions about" its link to Citgo.

The company's new suppliers will be Tower Energy Group of Torrance, Calif., Sinclair Oil of Salt Lake City and Frontier Oil Corp. of Houston.

The 7-Eleven statement said, "We sympathize with many Americans' concern over derogatory comments about our country and its leadership recently made by Venezuela's president Hugo Chavez."

A Citgo spokesman didn't respond to a telephone message and an email.

Ben Tsocanos, an analyst at Standard & Poor's, noted that the two companies' supply contract goes back to the 1980s, when Citgo was owned by 7-Eleven's then parent, Southland Corp. Citgo regarded the contract "as a strategic white elephant from when they had overlapping ownership," Mr. Tsocanos said. "...My sense is that Citgo was not sorry to see the contract expire."

I use Chevron.

Even before Hugo's tantrum at the U.N., I never cared to used Citgo.

My Benzes, especially the 300TE, run better on Chevron (and get better mileage to boot)

Ever since I bought Citgo gas someplace in Tampa, and had to drain 1/2 gal of water out of the tank a few hours later, I tried my hardest not to buy gas at a Citgo again. In the last 20 years, I've managed to avoid them all but a handful of times. (yeah, I can hold a grudge for a while on occasion)

I stopped buying Citgo gas 25 years ago when I was working at a Citgo when it was held up. The robbers took just over $200, the maximum limit allowed by company policy to be in the drawer at the time.

Their response - a reprimand! I had a gun pointed in my face and that is all they gave me. I haven't filled with Citgo gas since.

Been there and done that with a couple of PDQs, Amoco, Shell. However, my engine builders tend to favor Mobil gas so there it is.

Was it Citgo or the owner of the station?

For a 19 year old who just had a gun stuck in his face focusing on who was giving the reprimand was not high on my list of priorities; although, I'm pretty sure it was a corporate entity.
