Anyone else a fan of 7up, 14up........49up
I've been watching the film series since it first came out and 49up is finally out. Saw it last night and it continues to be a fascinating account of the progress of human lives. It amazes me how politically successful the character with the serious mental problems has been.

are you serious?
When I saw the topic of this thread, I thought it was a joke. What are you talking about? I've never heard of a film series called that.

In 1964, the British director, Michael Apted chose about twelve 7 yr old kids from a range of social classes and interviewed them about their lives, hopes and plans. Every 7 yrs since then (with one exception) he looks up the group and documents the progress of their lives. The recent release shows them at 49 yrs old. Most of them have taken predictable paths through the British social system, others have branched out in different directions and one has struggled with mental health problems for many years. One emigrated to the US and became a physics professor at the University of Wisconsin and another emigrated to Australia. Three of the kids were in an orphanage when we first me them and it is interesting to see their commitment to family life as adults.
I think it will go down in film history as one of the most creative documentary series ever produced. Someone will have to take over from Apted at some point because they're all quite a bit younger than him.

That sounds very interesting. I'll have to look for it. Sounds like something the public library here might even have. That's for mentioning it.
