drove a 2007 CLS 63...wow
I got to drive a new CLS 63 this week, had 22 miles on it when I picked it up. Lots of torque, the leather smells so good on the inside, just an all-around cool car. Sticker was $113XXX. There are multiple warning decals on the windshield about break-in: don't go over 4500 RPM's, change diff oil at 1875 MI, etc. The redline is over 7,000 RPM's on this beast, I imagine it must just howl at that speed.
Took a drive around the block in a 2007 S 65 too...$192XXX, very cool, and loaded with toys, but it's a lot bigger and seems heavier at least. It's hard not to grin when you are at the helm of one of these cars!
So did you really get to test drive it? :D The new 6.2L engine from AMG is pretty amazing.
It is being purchased by a prominent local businessman and I was petrified of hurting it, so I didn't exercise it...not broken-in and all that.
The EPA milesge ratings are 20 hwy and 13 city, and I have not found a reference, in The Star, or Car & Driver, to the torque number. Anybody know the torque this thing produces?
By the way, the black Alcantara headliner and steering wheel inserts are way cool, much nicer than the gray fabric headliner in the "base" CLS and it feels better than normal leather on the wheel.
Bah thats what the warranty is for.:D
In the market? Thats quite a line up to for test drives. Try a CL65 next, if you don't need four doors the big GT has a ton to offer. |
God no, I'll wait 20 years then buy it when it's all worn out...
I work at the dealership and get to transport cars between locations periodically...plazamotors.com |
Hmmm... Plazamotors... had a great experience there a couple years back. Not all college students are morons when it comes to cars.
now, about that $1700 brake job they wanted to do on my w126 (and the parking brake that some moron damaged - then tried to charge me $2000 to fix)... |
It's a wild place, 8 brands of luxury cars, huge campus. I'm a body shop estimator so I get all the ones that get damaged in transport, or porters wreck them...
Who's the businessman? Is it Mario Glegese?
Peter |
Nope, he makes malt beverages...
BigPoppa, I get a super-duper discount on parts and labor, it's the only way I can afford to go to the dealer...and there are several older tech's at Plaza who are really good with W126's, and ever older stuff like W113's. I do suspect if you rolled in there with an Adenauer or Ponton they would have no clue how to fix them.
