Fogging out license plate in pics

I see most people do that when they post a pic of their car. What is the harm in someone else seeing their plate number? The car is driven around with the plates showing, what's the difference?

With the whackos that have been frequenting these boards it is best to make them work for your information.

People with connections can use that number to find out exactly who is registered to that car and for how long.

still seems kind of paranoid

I guess if somebody wants to do you harm, they'll find a way. It seems less "informative" to show somebody your license plate than some of the other stuff that gets around on the internet or elsewhere.

If you're going to fog it out, why not insert something in it's place just to have some fun? Like, "buy me", for instance.

A little to much info. If you have some contacts you can find out things like name, address, ect about a person. Make the nut jobs work a bit for that info.

In Texas anyone can find the name and address from a plate, not good if you are a female.

it does seem a bit paranoid. however, I know some people are scared of the feds coming after them for road tax when they show pictures of their "greasy benz"
