Audio Technica Headphones?
I am finding myself getting more and more into music, I mean, I am starting to get picky on the quality of things...
I would like to replace my $9.99 Sony earbuds with something a bit more comfortable and much better sounding. Now, the frequency response of the $9.99 Sony's is like 28 to 19000Hz I think that the human audible range is 20 to 20000Hz? First question, there are a lot of headphones out there that operate in ranges from as low as 12 to 28000Hz. Are these any advantage than a pair that does 20 to 20000Hz? Can the average human hear the difference? Second question, Does anyone own Audio Technica headphones? Which model? How do you like them? Build quality? Thanks!

No speaker has a flat response across any range at all, so you have to look closer at the specs. 28-19K response tells nothing by itself.
Good makers will say X-Y within Z db. 30-18K within 1 db is excellent and probably unattainable. Going outside of that range will not make anything sound better, but getting a flatter response within that range will make everything sound better (and you will get response outside that range, if you're flat within). I've never listened to A-T headphones, but I have a set of Sennheiser's that I really like. |

+1 on the sennheisers.
I have a set of 280PRO's, and I've been abusing them for the past 3 years - and Dj'ing is quite harsh on headphones. only thing most people hate is the open swivel - it points outward, much dorky when wearing them. If you have the cash to front for a set of 25 (NOT sp) then I suggest them. Industery standerd - nearly every sportscaster wear a set. Every part on them is user-replaceable.

Headphone.com - Reviews are reliable and the prices are probably the best you can get in North America.
