Better Late than Never?
About 3 years ago I promised an acquaintance that I'd help sponsor him on a diving trip by giving him $200. Shortly after that I moved away and I never gave him the money and he never contacted me about it. Earlier this year I moved back to my old town and had lunch with this acquaintance in July but he never mentioned the money and I never brought it up. Even though 3 years has passed I want to give him the money. Should I present him with the $200 or should I just forget it.

I still would give him the money.....with interest that is. 200 bucks 3 years ago is much different than 200 bucks today.
Say this to him: "I was cleaning the house and found an envelope with cash in it and then I remembered that I set it aside for you, I guess I forgot to give it to ya" Problem solved

Tell him about the money, but then say you can give it to him or go out and blow it on loose women. Nah, dinner and a coupla bottles of wine will do.

if you have the money send it to him with 3% interest, which is more than he could get at savings. you will love yourself, and he will be impressed.
