Any Roadgeeks Here?

Any Roadgeeks here? A roadgeek is someone who likes things related to roads. If road construction sites or freeway widening projects catch your fancy, you like old bridges and old road signs and other things like that. I'm one, I know that for sure. As long as I can remember, roads, bridges, old highway routes, traffic lights, freeways, construction projects they've all fascinated me. At one time, I wanted to be a highway department engineer and design highways and interchanges, but that was just a passing phase. It still interests me, but not to that extent. What about the rest of ya'll?

I hate anything that gets in my way and couses traffic. The only roads I like are open and empty.

Road construction is like a cancer it just never goes away!

Thanks for the link. I am aware of Lady Bird Johnson's highway beautification acts. On rural highways in Texas, especially I-10 between Houston and San Antonio, the sides of the highway and the median are filled with wildflowers, it's very good looking when the bluebonnets (our state flower) are in season. Even in the big city, TxDOT is planting all sorts of vegetation along the sides and medians of our freeways, giving them a parkway like feeling.

One unique thing about Texas's freeway system is the widespread use of feeder, or frontage roads. You can find homes and businesses whose addresses that don't end in St. or Ct., but rather Fwy. I don't think I've been to another state where you can get right off the freeway and make a right turn and be in your garage.
