State Mottos II, or Why is Missouri so Poor?
Because Missouri's state motto is
Salus Populi Suprema Lex Esta or in English... LET THE WELFARE OF THE PEOPLE BE THE SUPREME LAW! Anyway I was glancing through this book on America's worst places written by Maurice Crow, and Englishman who has never actually lived in the US. Amusing nonetheless. From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Worst_Towns_in_the_U.S.A. Is your town on the list?

Yes.
And I've thumbed through the book. I read what it had to say about my area and a few others I know. They hit my area hard on it's air quality, which is poor, but overlooked alot of other things. My feelings aren't too hurt bad... MV |

For those for whom the first link isn't quite enough:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Worst_Towns_in_the_U.S.A. (The forum software thinks the period is just the end of the sentence, so it leaves it out of the link.) |

Yeah, Missouri has some high ideals. Our state bar is also one of the few states that I know that includes a commitment to help the less fortunate and the needy when attorneys are sworn in. Of course, the Missouri treasury is currently reflecting this philosophy...
