Looking for a stat (obesity related)

What's the probability that a 35 year old female, 5' 1" tall and 300lbs will have a heart attack before 50?

According to http://www.annals.org/cgi/content/abstract/138/1/24 if you're obese female and 40 your life expectancy is shortened 7.1 years. That's not as scary as I had hoped.

I imagine the chances of diabetes would be greater than a heart attack, statistically, but that's a guess of course.

My cousin, about 5'6" and around 300lbs (another guess but she's big) developed diabetes at aroung age 48.

After my dad quit contracting (lot of hands on work with his style) and went to a desk job, his weight shot up 50 or 60 pounds for a few years and he became diabetic during that time, at around the age of 50.

The question is, "Who gives a rat's ass"? If a person of that age is so dumb that she has allowed herself to get to 300 lbs. there is little that statistics will do to convince her to loose weight. In this day and age there is too much information available on the dangers of being over weight for anyone to sensibly ignore it. People, esp. women, blame hormones, the weather, the time of the month, family, history, broken off love affairs, mistreatment, etc., etc., when in fact it is entirely that they have more calories coming in than going out. End of story.

These 750 lb. people you see on tv going through gastric bypass have only two people to blame; themselves and their enabler, i.e., the person that is bringing them the food (cause once you pass 500 lbs. you are not going to be doing you own shopping. They want everyone's sympathy and the taxpayer's money but they can't keep their mouth shut long enough to help themselves.
