It's Veterans day.

What will America give to it's veterens this year?

Another round of hollow thanks?

Or a mission and a means to achieve it?

Please let your Congressmen know what you want for your soilders this year.

An accidental typo I trust. That spelling touches a nerve.

My $02..

Widows and families of soldiers killed or wounded in the WOT should be copmpensated at least as well as the widows and families of those killed on 9/11...

Apart from that and good medical care for physical and psychological injury,
most veterans only want thanks and respect from their fellow citizens.

Again, just my $.02

Yep.

It is a rare day indeed, when scanning the obituaries my local paper, that I don't read of the death of a WWII or Korean War veteran. Even getting some in my era -- Vietnam.

I read of children and grandchildren. Sometimes great-grandchildren. Of jobs, usually a fraternal organization or two (in my area, K of C is popular), sometimes political offices, and the general high regard from the community.

Sometimes when I read those obits my mind goes to the final scene in the Speilburg film.

They earned it.

IIRC, its also a (belated) "Happy Birthday" to the Marine Corps. Marine Corps celebrates its birthday as Nov 10, again IIRC

To any jar heads out here--thanks for your service!

For Veterans Day I hope that every citizen writes their congressman and asks them to follow through on what they have already promised. No need for new promises just take care of what we already have.

Yes, my apologies. My spelling skills and the late hour got me.

With so much in the news about the prosicution of the war lately I felt I had to say something about it on a day when we usually look to the past. I feel there is another tragic misuse of our country's finest afoot. And that it is our duty as Americans to make all efforts to ensure that they are not squandered, but given a mission and a means which cannot be looked back upon as a half measure, or to get out and give up on an effort not worth making at their primary expense. We owe the veterans of tomorrow what those most highly reguarded of the past have been given. Our full support, both material, and moral. In comitment without reguard to the appearance to the street on any side of the sea, but beholden only to the well considered conclusions of its charter.
Please let it be known to your government where you stand. No generation is great that rides the fence rail while work is being done in the pastures on either side. Plowing rocks with sticks will eventually lead to disaster.
