Play station 3 madness...
People are nuts, paying several grand for PS3's and waiting in line for a day just to get one.
But I see an opertunity to make some easy money! To late for PS3 but PS4 is probably coming out in what 12-18 months? Here is my plan: 1. Pay one of my friends $1k to wait in line and buy one. They only get the $1k if they actualy buy one, no Play station no money! Pff I'm not wasting a day and sitting outside a store. $1k for sitting outside a box store for 24 hours, not bad any college student would do it. 2. Make up Ebay add, 15 minutes. 3. Sell on Ebay for $3k-$5k+ 4. Go to strip club, oh wait. I win, my friend wins everyone except the poor SOB that buys it off ebay. God bless the USA!

I think it'd be more like 3 or 4 years before PS4 comes out. A friend of my dad's did try and cash in on people's stupidity, he ordered like 10 PS3s to sell on ebay but the place he got it from screwed him and said they could only give him one.

Yeah, heard about it, it's mental. People were lining up at night for the stores to open in the morning and they were getting mugged...?
Crazy.

PS4 will probably come out at about the same time as the X-Box 480.

I remember when the last X box came out it was just as nuts, any game system I don't care which one. I'm thinking that if I set this up I'll light off the ebay auction 24 hours ahead with a nice buy it now $5,999. Nothing wrong with having it sold when you pick it up that morning, UPS it that day. I'd shoot for a 24 hour total transaction time. The trick is you have to move the unit really fast to ride the craze.
Then wait 6 months and buy it back for $300.

The fact that ANYONE would pay insane amounts of money just to get bragging rights of getting the first production run of gaming hardware proves that there a LOT of stupid people in this world!
When my kid was younger, I had to resist caving in to the pressure of trying to obtain the hottest toy on the market in time for Christmas...Tickle-Me-Elmo, Furby, Cabbage Patch dolls, etc. Fortunately, she was not wildly interested in obtaining any of the above, so I would buy them several months later for her birthday, during which, the same toys could be had "en masse" at a deep discount. We play video games sparingly at home when time permits, and we aren't game junkies in any sense of the word. I do remember years ago on the day the XBox was launched, I had been cruising the local CompUSA, and allowed my daughter to play some of the demo'ed games on the display unit. An associate walked up to me and offered one of the two that were on hold in the back. Turns out the buyers that pre-ordered never showed up to pick up theirs. So I purchased one on a whim. No waiting in long lines in the cold, no late nights outside, no bruises or scrapes from fighting to scramble for the prize...just got one handed to me, paid for it, and took it home. Even THAT was overkill, as the units sold for $100 less six months later AND came with a couple of free games! I resist the frenzy these days.

Personally I love my Xbox its what the doctor ordered on rainy days.
RE: PS3 the hype is a bunch of BS if you check out the completed items on ebay most of them are selling for 700-800 and 1200 for a bundle, not $2000 like the media is leading us to believe. I would never buy a first production run video game or pay above retail. It take 6 months to work out the quirks so most people buying games without the extended waranty will have paaper weights like the first gen Xbox 360. |

Xbox live rocks.
MedMech your absolutely right. All first run models have always had problems. I won't even pay full price for a game. Let the kids buy them first. A few months later you can get them dirt cheap after they trade them in. Danny
