'BODIES' exhibition

That hair-raising exhibition BODIES has arrived in my town. Has anyone here seen it already? I intend to go, but so far nobody wants to join me, I wonder why...

Cheers,
V.

If its the same as Gunther Von Hagens' Body Worlds, its pretty hideous. All freeze dried body parts reassembled in various athletic poses. Kind of a wax museum without skin or clothing. If you already know where your lungs, intestines and sex organs are this will be freakish and not very educational.

There are two Body World exhibitions circulating in the US. I saw the one in Chicago and my daughter saw that plus the one that came to Denver. She preferred the Chicago one. I thought it was excellent, although I have never taken an Anatomy and Physiology course either. The section on the development of a fetus was quite good.

I saw Bodyworlds II in Denver, and it was unbelievable. There really was just too much there, but it's amazing technology and very educational. I would recommend it to anyone over the age of 11.

The new James Bond flick, "Casino Royale," has a scene in the midst of such a display. Sort of interesting for a few seconds but I honestly don't think I'd walk across the street for it.

Feels a little too much like grave robbing.

It seems strange and it is. I would still highly recommend it. It's not the same kind of queasiness you get around mangled bodies. I went on a class field trip last year.

Denver had it for a few weeks. I highly recommend that everyone see it. However, prepare for a LARGE amount of people every day it's open. There is no "slow" day to go see it.

Saw it a year or two ago back in Los Angeles. It was VERY interesting, and I'm not usually interested in anatomy or biology.

...turned out that my 76-year-old mother-in-law was the only one that dared to join me yesterday. The place was fully packed. It is truely fascinating to see what our internal organs look like, but walking past all these 'carved up' and 'sliced-through' bodies did give me some mixed feelings. Objectively, it's a modern-day popular version of an anatomy course, but it also comes close to a morbid kind of voyeurism. The objects are very clean and spectacularly displayed, They appear very much like these artificial anatomical torso models, and it's hard to imagine that they are actually the real thing. The most disturbing one was a ....peeled off skin (yep, like in Silence of the Lambs).... The section on the blood vessel system was highly interesting. Seems all the 'objects' have been obtained in China. Haven't made up my mind yet if I can recommend it to others.

My step mother saw it in Tampa and really enjoyed it. Personally, I liked the trips I used to take down to the morgue when there was a body that needed to be immortalized on celluloid...ah the smell of formaline(sp)..
