Anyone else own's a SLC?
Just wondering who else out there in OD land has an SLC. Mines a 1980 450SLC, light ivory with the dark brown brazil interior. No rust, 50 miles short of 100,00 miles. Sometimes I wish it was a convertable but other times I like the extra length and hardtop.

I think they're very cool cars, they remind me of SoCal in the '70s whenever I see them. It seems the survival rate was pretty low compared to SL's, based on the number I see on the road. Pricing hasn't held up as well as on the later SEC's and CL's, I'm not sure why. Enjoy it, and take good care of it, that was MB's flagship model for a decade or so.

If I can figure a way to get it from Phoenix to here, I've got one for free. (1976 450SLC to be exact ;) )

You might be able to guess - I own one.
Now about 15 years, with about 66K on it. I got it at about 48K. Good - you don't see them everywhere. Bad - you don't exactly blend in, when you don't want to stand out. Mine's medium metallic blue over blue. I'll be swapping out the blue interior for black this year (I hope) - I have all the parts and just need some time. |
I've got a 73 450slc sitting in a corner of the shop. Silver with black interior.
Quit driving it ten years ago when the cops decided to let me go if I could promise them that they would never see it again. Bet they won't remember the car now. |
I have had 4 of them. I still have 2 Euros, a 280 slc and a 350 slc parts cars, and a 1977 450 slc runner, silver with black interior. I had a Euro 280 slc when I liven in Dubai (silver with black interior). These are really great cars. I can't see why the sls now sell for so much more than the slcs.

The few I've seen locally seem to unloved, rusty examples. I really didn't care for the 560SL I used to have, the cockpit was too narrow, so I don't expect that an SLC would fit me any better.

What's the rest of the story? I got out of a speeding ticket with mine when the cop saw all my baseball coaching gear spread out in the interior. |
I just bought 3 SLC's a 77 450SLC parts car, a 79 450SLC 5.0 and a 500SLC. I'll be down to two really soon.
