What was that movie about bicycle racing?

You know the one... early-80's as I recall, the townie kids raced their beat-up 12 speeds and beat the fancy-bike guys. I've been distracted all day trying to remember the title. Don't ask why I thought of it. I wish I hadn't.

Yes, I DO hate that. Like getting songs stuck in your head. Yesterday I had the crappy jingle for a local cinema running 'tween my ears all damned day: "Tonight I feel like the Beverly!"

Yeah, it was Breaking Away. Around the same time there was also American Flyers, with Kevin Costner. Not nearly as entertaining a movie, but has some decent footage filmed during the old western stage races - Coors classic/Red Zinger, etc. I like it because I have ridden (suffered through?) some of the climbs in the movie.

I liked "Breaking Away." That was a cool watering hole they were swimming in. My dad tells me you need to be wary of water mocassins in those old abandoned quarry swimming holes in the midwest though.

I used to swim in an abandoned quarry north of Canandaigua, NY. One of my most favorite swimming holes.
