so starting then, each day has a little more daylight. until june 22, when the days begin getting shorter again.

unless you live on the equator or further south.

if you live on the equator the days have equal sunlight year round.

and if south of the equator, the days are now getting shorter.

so spring is on its way, guys, you know, for us northern hemisphere types!

Seasonality is latitude dependent ( due to Earth's tilt) but highly impacted by altitude and local geography.

PS Maybe I'm pissy from the long nights and depressingly cold and wet days. We're under a tornado watch until noon and there have been some house-shaking thunderstorms this morning. Though no twisters.

The same thing wrong with Seattle in Spring & Fall. Seattle is wet and cool or cold for 10 months. But that 2 months of summer makes it almost worth while.

This thread explains why I am currently at the Sea Shore Motel in sunny Santa Monica, avoiding the first time Denver has had back to back huge snowstorms in over a century. Heading back towards the cold tomorrow.

I'd really like to see some snow. We've had the worst snow cover here in recent history. I'd do Denver in a heartbeart if my wife's shoulder wasn't so screwed up.

I was with a precommissioning crew, living in West Seattle waiting for my ship at the Lockheed shipyard. It was great duty. Had I not fallen in love after I left the Navy I would probably have gone back to Seattle, the best city I have ever lived in.

Looking out of my kitchen window I could see Mt Ranier ... on those few days when it wasn't too overcast. What a beautiful view.

Total snow accumulation so far this winter: <1 inch. Snow in the forecast: 0. In fact, not even a low temperature predicted below freezing, according to weather.com, other than tonight. And yet Denver's getting pwned. This is one depressing winter. I'll take cold and snowy over rainy and miserable any day.
