In the interests of my sanity!

Hi gang...could the collective help me resolve an irritating problem?

RANT mode : On.

I bought a 5.8 ghz answering phone machine after I hammered the old one ( It was , not that this is important..) to death a few weeks ago because it kept erasing messages on it's own
(I'm easily irritated by machinery, if you havn't noticed.)

This unit allows me to go to the house next door and still recieve calls on the cordless hand set.

BUT....the blasted thing practically reads the 1960 'Castro Speech' to the UN before it allows you to listen to the messages.

Q: Is there a machine that does not talk you to death or has 'edit' feature on the messages intro'? A machine that says NOTHING other than the outgoing/incoming message would be fine with me.

I KNOW the stupid machine has a message...there's a big blinking number flashing on it plus a BEEP every 10 seconds ! I do not need to know when/how many/date/time/first message/old message/press deleat for old messages/ etc etc etc..............

RANT Mode:Off.

Note : I recieve up to 25 calls a day.

Anyone ?

Why don't you subscribe to your telephone provider's answering service and take the stupid machine out of the loop?

My pet-peeve: cell phone voicemail that runs your through a dozen friggin' options before you can leave a message. Pet-peeve #2: when you check YOUR cell phone voicemail and it tells you the number that called, the time it called, blah blah blah before it gets to the damned message.

Sorry for the off-topic. Your post rekindled my hatred of cell phone voicemail services.

I also vote for the voicemail service as provided my your phone company. Mine came free in the DSL/digital cable/phone package I subscribe to.

I would...but this Mickey Mouse Windstreem service here offers only 11 messages for $12.00 a month or $13.00 for 15 messages.
....nearly a dollar a message...are you crazy !

The beep should be defeatable via option selection. Do you have the owner's manual?

Yes....and no .
You can only defeat the BEEPING after the callers message has been recorded.
