Rant Room

I figured why not have a little thread about pet peeves and general rants about life in general. Perhaps some can add to the list:

1) Anyone been to a department store lately? It seems one just gets bombarded with "wanna save an additional 10% percent, let me open up an acct for you.." YIKES...if I get asked again I swear I am ready to go level three postal on them..:mgwhore2: .. Did someone put all these salespeople on commision for open credit accts or what...

any other thoughts?

Not sure if this forum is big enough for a thread like this...:D

I'll add a couple to your list -

2) Drivers who drive slowly in the left hand lane

3) Neighbours who operate power tools before 8 am on weekends, especially leaf blowers

4) one more - the ridiculously expotential proliferation of fookin' bloody @#*$&^@ mail-in rebates in electronics stores and the way prices are marked and advertised. Looks like this:

$1399! One day only! ** 1 2

** - after $100 manufacturer's delayed time response mail-in rebate that requires you to cut out pieces of the box the product came in, and then paste them to the rebate, just like Kindergarten
1 - after instant savings *
2 - after cashier applies Special Store Savings

(1)* - to be eligible for instant savings, product must be presented to cashier with customer tap-dancing to Footloose by Kenny Loggins or a nice polka.

People who make a right turn on a green light and have to stop or hit the brakes a few times to make the turn. WTF? If it is clear, go. If you are not sure don't drive. You should have identified it all BEFORE you get there and not in the beginning, middle and end of the turn.

told you we need a rants/raves section

People who drive in heavy rush-hour traffic while:

applying makeup & talking on the phone simultaneously
reading the paper
listening to music so loud that I can't hear my own music
driving so aggressively that they endandure others' lives (notice I don't give a damn if they wreck-- it cleans out the gene pool!)

Oh, and here's one more:

Cities that use photo camera technology as a means of revenue (uh... DC).

OK one last one:

The general practice of society to generalize Christmas and Chanukah into a "holiday season". Have the cajones to wish someone Merry Christmas or Happy Chanukah if you want. If it offends, they'll let you know and you can with them Happy Holidays instead. Is that so difficult?

My pet peeve?..Women who "wash up"down there immediately after sex,for God's sake,am I THAT filthy?

Can't say much about stores or malls as the only shops I go into are hardware, lumber, used book, liquor and thrift shops.

I couldn't agree more.

Just went to my bank to make a drive thru deposit and after asking if I needed aything else (and having answered "No thanks"), she wished me a "Merry Christmas". To which I replied "And a Merry Christmas to you".:) It happened to be at the Bank of America. I also received a "Merry Christmas" form a woman in the fragrance dept. at Macy's this past Saturday.

I think the tide is turning toward less "corporate management" of what are really personal greetings of their employees. IOW, I seem to hear it more in stores now than say three years ago.

But I live in the Third Circuit. ;) I wonder how it is out in the Ninth Ct.

A corolary rant of mine: I am annoyed by people who respond to my wishing them "Happy Holidays" with a pause and then "Merry Christmas." I personally prefer to say "Happy Holidays" and it has nothing to do with this fictitious War on Christmas that has made so much money for people like Bill O'Reilly.

Christmas is by far my favorite holiday and I have no objection to the greeting, "Merry Christmas", but I don't like having it used in a lecturing fashion.

Pet peeves.

1. The never ending habit of Congress to tinker with the Internal Revenue Code. (You all familiar with the changes for donations of clothing and household items? )

2. People yakking on cell phones standing in the checkout lines or in restaurants.

3. Conspiracy Theorists.

Cable TV - 200 channels of mostly nothing, complete with commercials which cable TV was supposed to eliminate.

I've gotten three genuine Merry Christmas's from employees of other companies this week. This is great!

I simply cannot fathom the need to get to the next traffic signal as fast as possible. When I see a red signal 1000 feet down the road, I'll coast to it. About 50% of the time, it might turn green and I don't even need the brakes.

But, every GD $hitbox will fly by at 55 mph and jamb on the brakes and come to a full stop and then proceed to wait for the light.

I actually have observed the stupid SOB's move over into the left turn lane.........accelerate past me...........and then jamb on the brakes to wait for the left turn light. Absolutely unbelievable.

I figure that these people must get their gas for free somewhere.........but, I'll be damned if I can figure out where. The simply cannot be so focking stupid.

The other possibility that I contemplate is that the time that they spend at the red light doesn't count in the total time of the trip. Yes, the more I think about it, that must be the reason for their behavior.
