Good champagne?
I'm looking for recommendations for a good champagne for the holidays. Not too dry maybe even a little on the sweet side and won't break the bank. What do you guys recommend?
I've heard that GOOD champagne is creamy tasting, but since I've never had and really GOOD champagne, I wouldn't know.

Moet White Star, you can't go wrong for the money, Perrier Jouet si my second choice.
and it is pronounced Moe-eT not Moe-ayyyy.

Veuve Cliquot (excuse spelling) supposed to be worth a look for the good stuff

$10 – Korbel Extra Dry. Made from Chenin Blanc. Cheap, good, and goes with almost anything. I use it as my house bubbly.

What is "break the bank?"
There have been times in my life when $20 would without a doubt have broken the bank!!  If the bank has a little resiliency, may I suggest a Sauternes as a dessert wine. If you want a good sweet wine this is it. Chateau d'Yquem is quite  expensive but it is positively Nirvana in a glass.You can spend less and still get a nice Doisey Vedraines for $45 or thereabouts.

Sorry for being vague. I guess this year anything over $50 would break the bank.
 Some years I might not even ask, I'd just buy a bottle of DP or something like that. Thanks for your suggestions. It's just amazing the kind of information and advice one can obtain at mercededsshop.com.

I'll second the Veuve Cliquot recommendation. Just the standard "Orange Label" stuff will fit your budget of $50 or less and is always a good bottle.

Friexinet - not true champagne, but tasty enough and cheap
Korbel Brut - dry and light, refreshing with hors d'oeuvres, bit more expensive Piper Heidsieck - makes a nice impression and makes you feel like a millionaire when you drink it, bit more expensive yet Theres a big quality difference between the cheap stuff and the more expensive. Buy the best you can afford. Just as important as the bubbly itself is the glass - thinner brims are best.

White Star will make the most number of people happy. But I must admit, the Spanish know a thing or two when it comes to the tiny bubbles too... Friexinet IMHO is WAY under-rated.

I like these wine threads. Ditto on White Star and Vieve. Thee is also an australian sparkling wine I love myself. Very dry, not too sweet. Its been since last year that I bought any. Really good and 10 bucks/bottle. I can't remember the name, sorry!

White Star, a true Champagne bottled by the French. It is Dom Perignon's little brother. Ditto on the Sam's Club as it can cost up to $50 elsewhere.
