"Cars" The Movie

Very funny, much like Mercedesshop.com but with great animation and humor.

I liked that movie, all the small jokes only a gearhead would get or notice.

Gearhead
Great movie, a must see! Very original.
Paul Newman as the 'Hudson Hornet', I'm trying to remember, the voice of the 'Porsche'?

If I remember correctly, the tire guy was 'Guido', wasn't he?

Bonnie Hunt

Tony Shalub ("Monk") was the tire guy.

Sheriff :"What did I tell you about talk'in to the accused?"

Mater: "To not to."

My children, grandchildren and I just finished watching it for the at least third time. It will be a classic.

But in the movie, he called the forklift 'Guido'.

a couple more notes...

Paul Newman's car had blue eyes... on purpose. The tow truck 'Mater was named and modeled after a guy how declared himself the "mayor" of the Lowes Motor Speedway infield during the races there.

I loved that movie, saw it free with a free trial of Netflix. I would purchase it and add it to my DVD collection. They need a "Cars 2", about a trip to Europe, maybe some animated W123s on the autobahn?

I loved it! I watched the movie with my kid at one of those places where eat dinner and watch the movie at the same time.

I saw the movie again with my little cousin over Christmas. I know its a kids movie but I still like it! Lots of good gear head jokes planted in it.

Any other routes bypassed?

A large point of the movie is that the Interstate highways, though an excellent project, ended up bypassing many towns and effectively turning them into ghost towns. Rt 66 is popular enough again that it should survive well.
Has anyone here ever done the Rt. 66 trip, or a decent part of it?
Does anyone on this forum live in a town that was bypassed in the same way that struggles to survive?
I can confidently say that all of us here love to drive and would really enjoy a nice leasurely Rt 66 type trip across the country.
Maybe things will get better soon and I'll be able to do such a trip.
