How is this 300SDL Turbo?
 
I went to see 2 used MBs today; Any opinions?

1- 89 300CE White / Blue MBTex interior- good condition on the interior; 7 out of 10- needs some cosmetics- new vent plastic in the center- passenger seatbelt plastic frame- Ext. nice paint - no rust anywhere except 1 small hairline on the edge of the sunroof. Hood pad is loose but in good condition- 99,000 Miles -
same girl owner last 12 years- 2,900.

2- 86 300SDL Anthracite/ Burgandy red leather interior- This is a 1 owner car that was garaged- and the paint looks almost new - a tiny ding on the roof above the rear drivers side door - The interior is a 9 out of 10- A tear on a seam on top of theback seat; and a worn split on the armrest.
Everything was just serviced at an MB dealer prior to it being traded in- belts filters- filters fluids brakes.....tires are 90+% bridgestones. Engine bay is spotless- MB service records- Not crazy about the "Grampa ext. color & it has 248,000 miles. asking 4,995.

get the SDL and stay diesel. Im surprised their is one for sale in FL.. lmao I can never find them .. not even an SD

The 300SDL is a nice one. Are you sure that's a '86? Maybe a late one, if all the components under hood are in good condition, I'd prefer this one. Just remember. it's not the same as the 5 cylinder, but good though if taken care of. I was looking for a good one for a long time and finally gave up. I'd say over all you may have similar maintainance cost as with the 300CE. It's got a lot of space in the rear, it's designed for superior ride in the back. Nice cars. I could imagine you'd have some fun with the CE coupe, it's sporty, quick and elegant. If the mechanical condition is good, it should be a fine car. It should have leather though?

$5000 I think is a bit pricey for 248k miles. Check the version number of the cylinder head. The original heads were prone to cracking. They eventually desesigned them. If it is a #17 or above, it's ok. Less than that, take 'em down to $3000 - $3500.

i gave just less then that for my 86 sdl,but it has the newer style head,new radiator, t-chain and guides,and some major front end work.it showed 243,000 when i got it but the carfax showed a discrepancy on the milage seems in a month it raked up 13,000 miles,so i would guess the speedo has been changed also.it now shows 253,000 and running super.i did replace the vacuum pump although the old one was in real nice shape, that is another thing i would look into they run about 370 bucks.and you don't want it going out period.
