Lake find
Now we all know about barn finds or the old car in the field..
How about a tank in a lake find! http://www.mil.hiiumaa.ee/2000_09_14_kurtna_T-34-36/ |
very very interesting. it looks as if the lake filled itself in with peat and the tank was actually under the edge of the shore of the lake.
it is remarkable that it was in such good condition. i guess you need air to rust! tom w |
check this out, i think it was a garage of one of the now deceased Alabama artists.
http://www.velocetoday.com/cars/cars_52.php Way back in the early eaby days there was an auction of a Ferrari 275 and a few others that was found in a garage in Southern California. |
i went to bon aire georgia about fifteen or twenty years ago and bought a trio of old caddies from a character there named frank. two of them had been parked in a "car port" like those which had been collapsed by a freak snow storm that dumbed a foot or so of wet snow on the roof. the 51convertible was completely undamaged by the collapsing roof but was very rusty from the ravages of originally coming from new jersey. there was also a 52 coupe de ville that the carport had actually had the roof caved in and the windshield broken. this car was rust free except for where the carport drained down on the floorboard and rusted a nice big hole through.
i bought them all and dragged them back to lafayette. i never restored them but eventually sold them off to someone who could invest tens of thousands in them and made a bit of money on the deal and had a great adventure out of it. barn finds are very exciting! how much did the ferrari go for? anyone know? tom w |
Cool, that tank looks like it just needs a wash and its back in action!
|
Pretty cool.
I can only imagine what it must have been like to be a solider and you turn a corner and run into that thing. Insane. |
