mr-amazing-deals

Anybody here ever buy a car from mr-amazing-deals on E Bay? He seems to have a lot of very exceptional MB's for sale. The prices seem on the high side, but maybe not for cars as good as his descriptions sound. He's in Doylestown, PA.

Here's the one I looked at today:

No worries about the seller

Yes Tom, this is Bruce Mendel. He is a forum member here, you could PM him directly. From reading his posts here and on www.benzworld.com he is a real W126 enthusiast and likes to buy and sell these.

I hope I am not misquoting him but basically, he maskes money on some and loses some money on others, and he has been involved in importing several of them from Canada. The Canadian ones in many cases were imported from Japan, where these cars were a "Craze" in the 80's and consequently there were many low mileage left had drive cars there, even a few with US specs.

He is very knowledgeable about these cars, and from what I can tell, he is constantly looking for the best ones (W126 coupes and sedans) that he can find all over the USA, and bringing them to Pa. where he keeps them for a little while or resells them.

My personal opinion is that he is honest, knows what he is talking about, and while ANY used car is a gamble, generally you probably wouln't be gambling on one that he had for sale.

I'm NOT trying to say, that I am pushing his cars in any way, but personally I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him. If this is the kind of car you are looking for, and are willing to forgo a bargain basement price, He could probably get youa VERY good car. This one appears to be one like that. My opinion is that you could do a LOT worse than Bruce and not much better, for a car like this.

A casual glance at the ebay ad, shows a pretty much stock unmolested car, and in my view, this is probably the best way to buy them. It is going to go for a premium I thin because the mileage is low, and the color is a favored one for these.

I think it would be worth reading his posts (He is BruceM105 and a quick way to get a sense of his philosophy or how to contact him search the thread from last month "Is a 500SEC OK to buy?" here and "Brucemendel" on benzworld, (see the W126 sedans and coupes sections, click "Just popped through my mailbox" and then scroll to his posts, and check his other posts, he is VERY active and well respected in Benzworld) to get a sense of who he is, why he likes these cars and how he sells these. For this one he said he paid high to get it.

If I were looking, I'd consider this car a VERY good one, with no worries about the integrity of the seller, and go on at look at the car itself, and if the condition, and records checked out, probably would buy it.

There are about a half a dozen MB 126 freaks I've run across on the net, they'd include Satish Tummala, owner of the www.mbcoupes.com, & has the shop www.motorwerksgroup.com Talbir Bains in London "Talbir" on Benzworld,
who contributes to the UK magazine "Mercedes Enthusiast" Jonathan Hodgcock who owns Blue Ridge MB in Atlanta, Mike Ramay, and a couple of others, of which I would consider Bruce one.

Hopefully that helps.

Thanks a lot, Jim. I figured that if he had something to do with SEC's, you'd know something about him. Thanks.
