So just when you think you know someone...

They go and do something stupid. My best friends dad just got himself arrested for possession of cocaine. Like 2 grams, is that a lot I don't know? Plus tampering with evidence.

I'm like WTF I have known my friend since 2nd grade, we have drifted apart a bit in recent years but growing up we were like brothers. We spent a ton of time with his dad and my dad camping fishing, ect. Lots of good times. I'm just shocked (don't know if that’s the right word) that his dad would get involved in crap like that. I mean he is a successful guy, with a family, house ect, he has a lot to lose!

Just goes to show you, how well can you really know someone?

Tell your friends dad, that eventually the coke will rot out his front teeth - this will come in handy to prevent lockjaw when he is in jail; or when he is out on the street and needs to "earn" a few bucks to buy his next line.

I'm not grasping the part that relates camping, fishing, and good times to the use of cocaine?

Would you expect a person who uses cocaine to be a dirtbag in the streets?

The stuff is very costly. The only people who use it are reasonably "successful".

Did you really expect to spot such use..........provided his nose wasn't bleeding?

Someone you know engaging in illegal behavior . . . why would that surprise? Was it surprising because he was not of an economic/social/racial background that "fit the profile?"

Along those lines, just imagine what our kids would think if they knew all the jackass stuff their dads did when younger.

I guess that I don't understand why you would draw that conclusion with regard to coke...........the people who use it are just like any normal person that you would meet.........there's almost never a red flag that shouts "cocaine addict"............

I'm with Hattie - call it profiling if you wish, call me prejuduced, call my life sheltered - I just don't know/never met/never went out of my way to meet people to do cocaine. And when you don't know anyone who does cocaine, OR if the only people you know who do cocaine are not like his friend's father, then yes- this is a surprise.

I'd be surpsied as hell if my best friend's father got busted for posession - He has 7 grown/successful children, good P&G retirement, lotsa grandkids, nice house in the suburbs and money for toys...

Maybe this is our wake-up call with respect to cocaine addicts.

John, don't take this the wrong way, but you remind me of the people in the media who are interviewed at the scene of a crime at the house next door. It might be a burglary or a murder or whatever.

"Nothing like this has ever happened here before". "I just can't believe it"

In reality, it happens all the time........one mile away........two miles away.........the next town..........and nobody takes notice.

It's a bit of naivete and its somewhat pervasive in society.

Might be good for me then I dont have friends family faith or health as it is, but I have trouble staying awake or useful when I am.

Seriously though, that is a drag. I wouldn't hold it against him too much, as long as he hasn't turned into a zombie and started pillaging the neighborhood. Getting arrested is better than getting beat or shot or stabbed or something I suppose.
