Al Gore nominated for Nobel Peace Prize..
As a result of his propaganda global warming film, Gore has been nominated for a peace prize. But before you all get too excited, Rush Limbaugh was also nominated for the same Nobel Peace Prize. Limbaugh was nominated because he, in the words of the nomination, "..is the foremost advocate for freedom and democracy in the world, today..."
I'd say the odds favor Gore by 10:1, just because of the political views of the Nobel committee.

Landmark Legal Foundation Nominates Rush Limbaugh for 2007 Nobel Peace Prize
LEESBURG, Va., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Landmark Legal Foundation today nominated nationally syndicated radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. Limbaugh, whose daily radio show is heard by more than 20 million people on more than 600 radio stations in the United States and around the world, was nominated for the prestigious award for his "nearly two decades of tireless efforts to promote liberty, equality and opportunity for all humankind, regardless of race, creed, economic stratum or national origin. These are the only real cornerstones of just and lasting peace throughout the world," said Landmark President Mark R. Levin. "Rush Limbaugh is the foremost advocate for freedom and democracy in the world today," explained Levin. "Everyday he gives voice to the values of democratic governance, individual opportunity and the just, equal application of the rule of law -- and it is fitting that the Nobel Committee recognize the power of these ideals to build a truly peaceful world for future generations." The Nobel Peace Prize, which is given by a committee of the Norwegian Storting (the Norwegian Parliament), was created by inventor Alfred Nobel in his will in 1896 to be given to the individual or organization who "shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding of peace congresses." The first Nobel Peace Prize was awarded in 1901 to Henry Dunant and Frederic Passy. Should Limbaugh become the 2007 Nobel Laureate for Peace, he will receive the Nobel Peace Prize medal and a cash award of $10 million Norwegian Kroner (approximately $1.6 million). The prize would be presented at a ceremony in the Oslo City Hall presided over by King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway on December 10, 2007, the anniversary of Alfred Nobel's death. As the 2007 Nobel Laureate for Peace, Limbaugh would deliver the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize Lecture at that ceremony. Founded in 1976, Landmark Legal Foundation is the leading conservative public interest law firm in the United States. Rush Limbaugh serves as an unpaid member of Landmark's Board of Advisors. At a ceremony in Oslo, Norway on December 10, 1994 Yasser Arafat, master terrorist, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. The prize was awarded jointly to Arafat, Israel's Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Foreign Minister Shimon Peres "for their efforts to create peace in the Middle East." The three were granted the prestigious prize, prematurely as it turned out, for their roles in the historic Oslo Accords signed the previous year and their committment to the Peace Process envisioned by the Accords. After generations of warfare and terrorism, it seemed peace was at hand. The decision to award Arafat the coveted Nobel Prize was based on the belief that he had renounced acts of terror and had become a sincere participant in a true peace process. The Oslo Accords and successor agreements in the Peace Process bound Arafat and his people to recognize Israel's right to exist, to guarantee Israel's safety and security within defensible borders, and to work by a peaceful series of negotiations toward resolution of remaining problems. Nonetheless, Nobel committee member Kaare Kristiansen quit rather than be party to a prize that included Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. But this was all a fiction. Even in 1993 and 1994, with the ink fresh on the peace agreement papers, there was a high rate of terrorism against Israel; seventy-three Israeli soldiers and civilians were killed and more than 100 wounded in 1994, up slightly from 1993. In a preview of the pattern that still persists today, Israeli officials urged the Palestinian Authority to take tougher measures against terrorists and the PA claimed to be doing so even while the terrorism went on and on. During the 1990's it became abundantly clear that Yasser Arafat was less than fully committed to the peace process, which ultimately failed at Camp David and resulted in the bloodshed of the al-Aqsa intifada starting in September 2000. Groups have come forward demanding that the Peace Prize be revoked, based on Arafat's bad faith, but revocation is unlikely.

Of all the prizes awarded in Nobel's name, the Peace Prize is the best known and least accurate.

*** NPP is a joke... ***
The Nobel Peace Prize is a joke. It has become the "Who's Who" of International awards.
What "fuzzy-wuzzy-wussy" problem is next on the viewer's screen to faun over? Saving de-hydrated whales that swim in stirred-up, river-born, PCBs? When Arafat got the NPP, I knew right there, and then, that the prize itself was nothing more than a joke. He either used the cash for his own personal gain or bought more C-4 for "peaceful purposes" in his "homeland..." Let Al have his day in the "sun" - maybe it will shink his head back down to normal size...then again, I really doubt that will be the case either. If anything, this will only inspire him to louder and more obtuse pronouncations of how the Kyoto Treaty needs to be signed by the USA. And damn, if we ain't got the gutless Congress able to do it now. You just watch...the only folks able to drive any vehicles in the future will be card-carrying (OK, PID-Chip Inserted) members of the correct party affiliation and those vehicles will only be "green" enabled. Dino-fuels 'vill be verboten!!
