The Mood in your Region
What part of the country do you live in and how would you describe the publics general mood there?
|
Western Pennsylvania
Optomistic, with a touch of discontent.
|
West -- orgasmic.
|
Upper Midwest. I'd say reserved and future focused.

Terry: Are you optimistic 'bout the way things are going? Peter: No, I never ever think of it at all Terry: Don't you ever worry When you see what's going down? Peter: No, I try to mind my business, That is, no business at all Terry: When it's time to function As a feeling human being, will your Bachelor of Arts help you get by? Peter: I hope to study further, A few more years or so. I also hope To keep a steady high Terry: Will you try to change Things, use the power that you have, The power of a million new ideas? Peter: What is this power you Speak of and this need for things to change? I always thought That everything was fine Terry: Don't you feel repression just Closing in around? Peter: No, the campus here is very, very free Terry: Does it make you angry The way war is dragging on? Peter: Well, I hope the president Knows what he's into, I just don't know Terry: Don't you ever see starvation In the city where you live, all the Needless hunger all the Needless pain? Peter: I haven't been there lately, The country is so fine, but my Neighbors don't seem hungry 'cause They haven't got the time Terry: Thank you for the talk, You know you really eased my mind I was troubled by the shapes Of things to come. Peter: Well, if you had my Outlook your feelings would be Numb, you'd always think That everything was fine CHICAGO And to answer your other question: When you drive an automatic transmission car do you left foot or right foot brake? Always right foot for me. I worry that otherwise one day I could simultaneously step on the brake and gas pedals and oh boy, what an ugly sight that would be. :( |
SW Fla.
Schizophrenic One minute we are happy to have the tourists and their dollars, the next we want to shoot them for driving 20 in a 45, or making a left hand turn from the right lane. One minute we open the door for another of the countless folk with an oxygen tube attached to their head, the next we want to strangle them with it, as they once again forget to leave a tip/drive 20 in a 45, or making a left hand turn from the right lane. One minute the mall stores are happy to have a influx of customers, the next they want to bludgeon the twit who bought merchandise from one store, but can't remember which one, and insists on returning it at another store (apparently up north, all the stores are one big happy family). |
middle/south Georgia - redneck with some biker types thrown in
|
Houston, Texas and we're tired.
|
a lot of folks are worried around here.
lots of forclosures. lots of layoffs. high interest rates (not horridly high but higher), stagnant economy, lots of unsold houses and empty rentals. and we're in a relatively protected economy with purdue here. tom w |
I live on what was once picturesquely referred to as the "gold coast",which has long since lost it's original lustre.
Now,for the most part it is populated by folks who spend money they don't have to buy things they don't need to impress people they don't like.............. |
DC - most folks are too busy to think about what mood they're in.
|
AUggghhhh !!!!!
South Florida- Boca Raton, FL
Snooty - unfriendly - stuck up - and then there's the "locals". I would love it if the sprinklers here stopped working for a month. All these drainage-ditch-phonny-lake front-planned communiites would turn back into the desert they were meant to be. What other region gets a World Series winning team & trades every single decent player & then 5 years later miraculously wins another World Series & can't get ANY support to build the poor team an actual Baseball Stadium???? Looooosers! Snooty SUV driving Cell phone glued to their heads lemmings!!! ... |
Houston, Texas - Optimistic because the economy is kicking butt
|
Maryland - too cold right now to give a damn.
|
New Orleans: Exhausted. Complaining, but at the same time tossing around optimism ("Noo Awlins'll be back!") like deck officers on the Titanic. Busy blaming everybody but themselves for their Katrina losses. When you point out how something could be done better, you get a shrug: "Whatcha gonna do?"
Simply put, things here are circling the bowl. . |
