Mercedes commercials...wha?

reading tech section on a Honda forum:
How do I make 100+HP out of my D series?

reading tech section on a Toyota forum:
How do I shove a Nissan engine into my 70s pickup truck?

reading tech section on a Mercedes forum:
My OVP/HES/DASH/DOOR LOCKS died, how do I fix it?

You put too much brain into a simple tool you are just going to get brain tumor:

"It's like an aircraft, if you keep changing the parts, it'll last forever"
......errr no ****!

This ad basically tells you that you can sell your Mercedes for peanuts.....so you have no choice but drive it to the ground

Anyone got an actual reliable Mercedes around here? Say something made after 1997?

Truth is, the "other" imports are so reliable it's downright boring...so owners have time to think of things like engine swaps and bolt-on horesepower mods.

And hk20000, I thought the best MBs were built BEFORE 1997...

Yeah a lot of people do, I know a lot of people with 2000+ MB's that have been fine cars.

Its funny Ferrari's are worse yet the owners complain less. Maybe the entry fee fixes that.

that's exactly why I ask.... Coz my 95 is damn fine automobile. My friend's 89 W124 was also the most reliable thing ever.

It's just that it's rather ironic that these commercial I've quoted are rather new (much later than 1997 for sure) and they are just so far from truth from what they have been selling at the time. At the time those ads were aired the M-B brand was so far down in the initial buyer satisfaction survey and that particular ML class in the faithful video was like second from last for Top Gear's reliability survey.

Ferrari I don't blame them they have never ever put a commercial on TV saying how reliable their cars are or what not.....In fact I don't know if there is a Ferrari commercial on TV. One search on youtube says they don't.

And that's fine, coz I had a BMW they always seems to break down too (not mine though) I never see BMW advertising about their reliability. They put their money where their mouth is: their machines are about driving experience. Always a bit of a laugh:

of course I'm in no way comparing Merc and BMW

it's more like Merc vs their ads, and BMW vs their ads

and I think BMW is way more forward thinking and less down right lying.

My favourite MB advertisement

I remember this one from a few years back. Helped validate the 4Matic purchase for me
