Hmmmm. I wonder why the wires melted?

In the description, it says that some imbecile was wiring in a radio and obviously crossed some electrical wiring and some shorted out. Well, I wonder why... look at that mess at the torn out instrument panel.... looks like tangled spaghetti.

Some people are so

Did the fool not know to disconnect the battery in the first place when working with wiring? Then, why in the heck would you have to take out the entire instrument panel to put in a radio?

Stopped to assist a gentleman jump-start his BMW.

When I opened the hood, I noticed that the ground lead to the battery was spliced about an inch from the terminal side with a 16-gauge lead to a grounding point, with duct tape covering the connection!!! It was pretty obvious that the potential engine fire was imminent as the insulation on the 16-guage wire looked baked!

I got his car started and immediatly informed the owner about the fire hazard, and to run to the nearest auto parts store and pick up the "very expensive" $5 ground strap for his battery!!

What a shame. As said before, still a lot of good parts. Judging from the little black box on the floorboard, maybe said genius was trying to install an alarm or remote start system........using speaker wire Too bad the air bag didn't give him a "kiss".
