R.I.P - Eddie Feigner - The King

Eddie Feigner died this past week at 81.
Some of you may know him as the King from the famous 4 man softball team "The King and His Court".

This guy was amazing to say the least!
He pitched a softball that nobody could hit. He was clocked at over 104 MPH. His 4 man team consisted of only a pitcher, catcher, first baseman and a shortstop. Usually only the catcher saw any action.

One day in 1964 at Dodger Stadium, he struck out Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, Maury Wills, Harmon Killebrew, Roberto Clemente and Brooks Robinson in order. Not a bad days work!

He threw 930 no-hitters, 238 perfect games and struck out 141,517 batters while playing more than 10,000 games over 50 years.

Feigner served in the Marines during WWII and was very supportive of our troops.

My cousin took my brother and I to see him when he ran a sort of traveling 'Globe Trotters' type show, late 70's early 80's. He was impressive and a lot of fun.

Never heard of the guy, but I just saw an episode of "King of the Hill" last week that portrayed a softball group just like that. Freeky.

Sometimes he would pitch from 2nd base and still strike em out. He had an arm that looked like Popeye's.
