Any S/S welder-fabricators out there

I run a shop in Tarpon Springs, Fl. We are in need of S/S welders so if any of ya'll have the ability and wanting to relocate, let me know. We make custom commercial kitchen equipment. The average length of time my guys have been here is 12+ years. We don't have alot of turnover.

One of my guys died of a massive heart attack over the holidays. And another just landed in the big house. So i'm a little short on manpower right now.

Thanks, Mark

Yes, everything is Tig. Our projects go through the shop so quickly that we don't have the luxury of time to send stuff out to be welded. Thanks though.

I would post this on www.weldingweb.com. They have a general section you could post it on. Lots of people over there. You might find someone.

You're working them too hard and not paying them enough!

Hello Mark,

I have a buddy in Longwood Florida that owns Uni Pak. They fabricate beverage handling equipment specializing in beverage warmers. One of their big customers is Florida's Natural in Lake Wales. I have had discussions at length regarding finding good TIG welders and they are like hen's teeth. He had a really good guy for a few years but had problems with him drinking on the job and problems related to that. I saw a still the guy fabricated and it was a work of art. The best TIG welder I ever saw was a guy who fabricated race car chassis. It was neat just to put on a mask and look over his shoulder as he welded. He was a true artist.

I hate to say it, but I think you have a tough time finding a qualified person. It seems they are employed, in trouble, or on their way to getting in trouble.

Ya, I think I'll do what I usually have done in the past and just pull a Brake operator or Shear operator and teach him to weld. Hire some new kid to take their place.

You would think that with this "failing economy" there would be a crapload of folks looking for jobs.
