Ted Williams was an atheist

Ted Williams' visits to the Jimmy Fund Clinic
Throughout his career as a player and beyond, Ted made countless unheralded (and, at his request, unreported) visits to children being treated for cancer at the Jimmy Fund Clinic. Tales abound of kids waking up to find the "Splendid Splinter" standing over them, or parents learning at check-out time that "Mr. Williams has taken care of your bill." When asked about his visits once by a reporter, Ted snapped back that he didn't discuss the subject and stated: "What I do for the Jimmy Fund, I do for the kids."

Ever since I heard that Ted Williams didn't believe that God would allow innocent children to suffer and die and thus didn't believe in God, its caused me to wonder just what is the purpose?:book: Maybe there isn't any purpose because there is no God or Gods. Perhaps we're just not important. Just collateral remnants of the big bang.:scholar:

What do you think of the idea that the children suffer so others don't have to?

We've been through this before, a few times actually. Maybe something different may come out of this one.

I'm not particularly bothered by clumps of cells with no brain being destroyed, so others don't have to suffer. But I'm sure that you don't agree with my definition of a "child."

Yo Dude ;

What the hell do you mean? " What is THE purpose?"

Sounds like you have been watching too many episodes of LOST.

You just need to keep entering the code every 124 minutes & you're cool.

That's the purpose you bejesus freak!

And that's what counts...I just love these post-mortem psychological evaluations of the motivations of famous,gifted people...sort of a "revisionist hagiography"who's sole purpose seems to attract more attention to the "authors"of this claptrap than the subjects concerned.
