Desperate, I need a little pot

Any one have or know of a source for a 1 meg ohm, audio taper potentiometer with PCB leads, knurled shaft?

Strange request huh.

Been there.

Its from a large audio mixing console I'm restoring so, it needs a knurled shaft to use the existing knob. Audio taper so it has the same "feel" as all the other channels. PCB mount connections I can work around if I have to.

My next step is to dismantle the pot and replace the broken carbon comp wafer with one from a "D" shaft one. It looks like I'll have to epoxy the wiper back on the shaft.

Kinda growing my own...

what console are you working on? i may have some parts here.
if it is a sealed wiper, you will have a very hard time getting it to set right again. as well as running the risk of bending the post.

Its an old Bi-amp that has vertical channel strips with transformer inputs. Very immune to hostile RF and has a nice sound after I reworked all the channel strips with better op-amps. Big VU meters, lots of room to work.
Anything these days with xformer inputs will cost big$$$.

Last strip I pulled I cracked the wafer on that channel's trim pot.

I have a good 1 meg audio taper pot here but its a D shaft not knurled. Knob won't fit.
The shafts are crimped on the wiper end. I might be able to "roll my own". Nothing to loose.

The JH636 is a nice desk.

I am using this Bi-amp for a live venue at my ranch where just last yr they installed a 50KW FM station just up the road. The transformer coupled mic pre-amps were dead quiet where every other desk I could hear 97.5 FM on some inputs using AKG 535s and other condensors.

I have two pots apart. If I can swap the shafts I'll be set. Otherwise, its gonna have an odd knob on the last chan.

Surely you mean splined shaft, with the "spring relief" cutaway friction slot on the shaft....well,you're in Texas, after all.

Here's one guy I've found useful.

Couple of local old-time "parts bin"type stores around here that used to serve all the defense contractors,I'll give'em a call after 10 this morning.
