I have to agree with you on this one 240Joe - it does sux.

This is the first time I came across one of your posts regarding your views on oil changes and I was enjoying the comic relief.

Not that I agree with your thoughts and views on "lack of" oil changes but occasionally I enjoy reading other peoples views which are different then mine, I try not to become too narrow-minded.

Over the years I have gone from 3K oil changes to 5K oil changes and I believe that I am still "wasting" oil but thats the part of me that prefers to overmaintain then to undermaintain. I still insist on changing my oil hot but then again I can't force myself to eat cold pizza either.

I sense the moderators believe that you occassionally "cross the line" but I read the open disucssion posts as "open discussions" and sure and hell enjoy your attitude.

...when the mods think that people are fired up to the point that a thread has become predominantly posters sling mud thats when they lock it... but it's still there i.e. not censored AFIK. It's 'against the rules' to engage in 'personal' attacks and it's up tothe unpaid mods to come in on their free time and bust everything up they think looks suspicious. Maybe they will come by and explain, maybe not. In ethier event, feel free to post a new thread to discuss any oil change or other ideas you might want to put out there.

Joe - I didn't close the thread, Hattie did. Either way, this is a private website, run as a business first. That said, there are certain rules that need to be applied to ensure that content is appropriate given that all this bandwidth costs money and advertising helps to pay for it. Advertisers expect a certain level of content - no porn, offensive language, etc. Unfortunately, when a thread spirals down far enough, it needs to be locked as simply removing a post or two doesn't cut it. People still tend to bicker and are unwilling to let go of the argument or fight. Then we have to intervene more, etc., and dish out infractions and or bans, which we'd rather avoid.

So...don't take it personal.

See, that's what I'm talking about. Yeah I get sad when a thread I've enjoyed posting in gets closed.
I usually go back and re read my posts and stare at the misspellings.
But if there is something I want to talk about (that Isn't directly related to 'how some member here is an idiot') I just start a new thread about it. If I do want to post something about some member being an idiot I try to make it as subtle as I can ...or better yet just not post it at all.

Can't say I'm inocent though... but to all concerned... and that means you too Gottadiesel... I really diddn't mean any harm by it.
