I had to put my best buddy to sleep today and feel like ****. Why did I not have that feeling when I put bullets in *******s?

Sorry to hear about dog. I've had to do that with family pets, dogs and cats, and it always sucks big time. At least I got to hold them in my arms so it died as comfortably as possible, in my company.

As for the a**holes, I think that you have probably answered your own question.

That's a tough thing to do. My wife's sister recently had to do the same thing with her dog.
It's like losing a member of the family.

A dogs main goal in life is so serve and be loyal with no adverse intentions with little training and ask for nothing in return. Way back in the day I remember a guy who's job was killing people and he ragged on me about hunting; his philosophy was people have the ability not to kill but choose to while animals just do it to survive; with that said he killed lots of very bad people with no remorse but always spared the guard dog(s).

Unhappy *** Hurts like hell... ***

I've had to put the family pet down on several occassions...sucks like nothing else in the world.

Just remember to take lots of pictures of your pets when they're here...you'll never have another chance later...

Sorry it had to happen....

My condolences...

My heart goes out to you. I fear the day I have to deal with that with our current pair.

BUT, you gave him/her the best life.

I don't know about yours. actually from your post I bet yours was just like ours. I know mine live better than probably 1/2 the people on this planet. Much more actually.

Heat / Air, top food, medical, toys, a big yard...

And two loving people. (That SPOIL THEM).

Finally, the otherside too, at some point it is cruel to keep them around.
You have to accept the fact that you gave him/her the best life, and let him/her go with some diginity without suffering too much.

Yip, it is one of the hardest decisions I have ever made, his condition worsened through the weekend and I decided to leave work to finish it, that was the hard part.......pulling the trigger so to speak. Hind sight 20/20 I feel much better I have no doubt he is chasing a ball somewhere high in the sky.

Thanks we are making a journal for him with his pictures. I must also add he was the type of dog that people always commented on how good of a dog he was and when we were guests at a home they invited my dog.

on the invite scale that pretty high IMO.

I lost my beagel that way last month.
I feel like an idiot because we never had him neutered, well not till he was 7 which led to him getting a hernia next to his arse.

Get your male dogs neutered people if they don't have anactive sex life.

It was the complications from that opperation eventually deteriorating that put him in that sad state that he was in 6 years later, last month. It's a tough week your in for, so go ahead and have a cry, over the loss of as good friend as a man can have. I think it was harder on me than it was on the kids.

I cried like I'd never cried before after putting my 13 year old Cocker Spaniel down when I was 17. Had taken her for her evening walk the day before. My mom calls and tells me she was having seizures so we had to put her down.

Pretty unexpected, hit me pretty hard.

You did your duty. End of story. For all the joy he gave you, this is the payback. You had to put him out of his misery. I have had one dog die on me without being able to do that because I was on vacation. Another didn't bounce back as he has done in the past so I pushed the syringe and terminated him.

Both of them have been cremated and they sit on top of my table. Their urns have a space for a pic of them.

I am not a fan of many pics. As long as I remember them, they will live on in my head. When I am no longer able to remember, it will be my time soon and won't matter.

My condolences. Out of my two deaths, it is better that I pushed the syringe than for my other one to die without my presence.
