What's the difference between hand engraved and machine engraved? I'm buying a stainless steel item and the store says hand engraving will cost me $25 and machine engraving $7. Is there a difference in look?

Very much so.

I have an old Hermes machine engraver with several fonts.

On can always tell machine engraving by the regularity and shallow depth of the letters.
