Multiply this by the number of PC's at all businesses in the country, and you have a lot of time invested. That is, a lot of money for a piece of feel-good legislation that the congress thought was a free way to look like they're doing something.

Yep. We changed our mere three workstations & server +1 last night and unchecked the DST feature. What a waste. I'll get around to the real fix when I have some time. Though I will enjoy the light monday evening. I would hate to be the IT guy at some place with 5,000 units to change.

Jeez, most networked computers synch their time with a server when they boot. Not an issue. Set the server properly and you are all set.

All my computers already have the update from Microsoft, they would sync with my server anyway if they didn't...

OS time is synchronized to UTC/GMT, not local time. Any Windows (or Mac, or Linux) box without proper patches, is an hour off right now - whether it timesyncs or not. DST is a client-side setting - it is not fetched from time servers. |

The system clock (on servers, anyway) is set to UCT, and is only converted to local time for display. But having the local time wrong can have bad effects for some software that cares about the time. This is about much more than what your computer displays on the status bar. |
