Martha's Vineyard

Thinking about doing the summer vacation thing in Martha's Vinyard this summer. Anybody with experince as to which area to stay away from as a far as a weekly rental? The houses near Edgartown are quite a bit more expensive than say around Gay Head - is that just because of the convenience of being near town or is it because the Gay Head area is run down a little more? Any other comments?

I can't help too much because I've never rented on the Vineyard, but I have made a number of stays on my parents' boat over the years. We always stayed in Oaks Bluffs Marina and had plenty of stuff to do.

I can't speak from that much experience about Edgartown, but from what I remember seeing it was a bit more secluded from a lot of touristy things which draws a premium. Bear in mind that was as a boater. If your renting it may very well be different.

Is that a place or an activity?

Provincetown Which in not unlike Key West. Beautiful places the Mrs. and I like to visit. I'm just not ready to bring the kiddies to those places yet. Way too much education.
