Hotsyncing your Treo

I know some of you have Treo's. Have any of you had problems hot syncing them to your computer? Mine worked fine for quite a while, but will no longer sync.

I've had no luck getting any help from Sprint or Palm and so I am living on borrowed time. I've been backing up the important stuff to the card, but would like to be able to sync again. Amy suggestions?

Are you using the USB/Treo 17C adapter with the button?

Yeah, it worked okay for about a year, but stopped abruptly. It's almost like the USB port is not working except that it does work with other devices.

You ever have a problem like that?

Windows is selective about which USB port you use. Make sure you use the same one every time you sync. If you use another, it will try to reninstall the drivers for that port which may or may not result in a conflict. Turn your sync software off, leave the device plugged in and go to control panel-system-hardware devices. Uninstall any that have a yellow question mark beside them by right clicking and left clicking uninstall driver for this device.

Unplug the device and reboot the computer and with the sync software turned off, plug your device into the USB port. It should find it and install the drivers.

Launch your sync software and it should find the device. If it doesn't, you may have to point the software to the port the device is using.

You may also try syncing it via bluetooth if you have that option.

Hope this helps.

Yes, and I have to firmly push the connector into the TREO while rapidly pushing the button. I guess after time they fail to make a good connection. There are times when it just won't go so I use the Hot Sync Icon from the screen and do it manually.

My sync cable on my treo broke a while ago...... It would charge the phone, but no dice for syncing it. Bought a new cable, and returned the broken one.... Worked ever since.

I also do bluetooth syncs. Its nice, as mines set to auto sync when it finds the desktop.

But then I saw the light.... I now have a 6700.

When the cable quit working, I tried the Bluetooth method, but had no luck with it.
Thanks.
