check out my new toy

I just put a supercharger on my 06 Mustang 4.0 vert. Very responsive with great low end torque, upped the power by about 70hp at the rear wheels.

I'm semi-serious about doing that to my 4.6L F150. How difficult was it in terms of man hours? Appox. cost (if I may be so rude as to ask)?
Looks great!

Did this modification void the factory warranty? I would think there's a pretty good chance it did, if the installation wasn't sanctioned by the manufacturer and performed by a Ford dealer.

Is that a bolt on mod? Any chip tuning required? It looks cool, now you need a hood cutout!

@Kuan, it does require a tune but fits under the hood
@Jim B, it voids the warranty if Ford can prove the mod caused the problem.
@Anthony,it was a pretty easy install, about 6 to 7 hours with a helper. The cost was about $3500 with the tunes, but that cost won't translate to your V8 motor, I think a Saleen blower that would fit yours is around $5k.
No comment on the escort install lol!
Here's a pic of the outside. Thanks for the compliments, I know Fords aren't real popular around here but I thought I'd take the chance.

Actually I thought the new Mustang was quite nice. Certainly a welcome change from the typical round front round back styling that came out in the 90's.

It gets the women, a different kind, but still.

Why go to the expense and trouble of adding a supercharger to the 4.0 liter V6, when you could simply go out and buy a V8?

Cool!

Wonder what it would do in the 1/4 mile? I've seen some time slips of blown 4.0 'Stangs in the mid 12's.

Lots of reasons but chief among them are the fact that it is less expensive to go this route both in purchase price and insurance. Plus a blown 4.0 will beat a stock V8, and the weight ratio (front to back) is better on the V6 making it a better handling car. The fact that it also very unique is appealing; GT's are as common as Camerys (sp?). Bottom line is I had the 4.0 and later decided to modify it, trading it for a GT I would have taken a big loss.
As for 1/4 mile times it is very dependant on the total set up of the car; gears, suspension, tires, auto vs manual, etc.. I have seen from low12's to high 13's. I have not personally taken it to the track yet, I want to get it dyno tuned first to optimize performance and make sure everything is safe (AFR etc..).
