Anyone ever buy parts from Perf. Products?
For years, I've been getting these catalogues from these people. They're called "Performance Products." They only specialize, in a few makes, and models. Mercedes, Porsche, G.M. and Ford Trucks, Toyota, Jeep, and Camaro.
Anyways. These guys have everything including complete long, or short blocks for all model MBZ cars, and you can almost build one from scratch with parts from them. If they've got so much though, and are so big, why do I never see any of you guys mention them, or refer to them when making suggestions to each other? They've even got repair info, and a hotline, for making repairs. I just wondered why no-one ever mentions them around here. www.************************ |

i have their catalogues too.
they are handy for checking part numbers. folks don't talk much about other places because fast lane above is a sponser and has a very good reputation for being helpful. tom w

Ok, I didn't even use "Fastlane" yet. I will be though, I'm sure. So how do you guys like "Fastlane" then? Are they a lot like "Performance Products"? Do they have a cat.or are they only on line?

i think people here have misgivings about even mentioning parts suppliers other than fastlane since fastlane supports this site. this is my impression from searching the archives here on this site.

They're decent for little bits and bobs that are occasionally cheaper than anyone else.
Their sheepskins are damned nice too.

Used to all the time. They were good for "car jewelry" like floormats, embossed Porsche shop towels, etc.
The showroom used to be in this POS drug infested industrial area in Van Nuys. It was always an epic journey.

I think they are overpriced, but I like that cataloge. I usualy just flip through it, and if I see something I want buy it cheaper from Fastlane, or on Ebay.

Use Fastlane as your first choice for MB parts. Performance Products is OK for other cars though. My experiences there have been OK, but I've heard of others who didn't care for them.

I've mentioned them on the ShopForum many times, and have made several purchases from them.
They are expensive, but they are a trusted company, and have a good return policy. I've even visited their warehouse / retail outlet in Van Nuys, CA three or four times.

Well I enjoy their catalogs, and have bought a few things too.
Speciality items, that FastLane might not carry, and I had a coupon or ?? to make it better. I do think their items are pricey, but the quality is good, and never had a service issue. General parts etc, Fastlane first

Performance Products has accessory stuff that is kind of nice if you like that sort of thing. I've bought a couple of things from them. Seat covers, floor mats - after market stuff. Good service overall.
Phil & Roy are the best, and always my first choice for parts. Fast excellent service. But I don't think they do much with the aftermarket stuff.

I've bought cosmetic stuff and hard-to-obtain mechanical or electrical components that I couldn't get from eBay or FastLane.
They send me catalogs as often as "Guitar Center", "Sharper Image", and "Brookstone"! What is it with these companies? Don't these full-color multi-page catalogs cost a ton to print?!!! Buy a guitar pick, a spark plug, or a garden shovel and WHAM! Catalog city!

I've had their tie rods wear out too quick for my tastes. Also if I get a guy named "Kevin" when I can, I just hang up. His attitude seems to be, "quick, give me money and get off my line!" I seldom call there anymore. Delivery time for me is the same from Fastlane or PP. Wish Fastlane had a distribution facility EAST of the Miss.
