Mercedes wheels and toilet bolts

Hey fellas long time no, um, hear. I've got a couple of questions for y'all....

1. What's wrong with this picture?

http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/300203370.html

It's a set of good condition bundt cakes for $10 each. Did I just get lucky or am I missing something?

2. Any tips for getting out excessively rusted toilet tank bolts? I will try to grab the middle of the bolt with a pair of "vise grips" and see if that helps/works. Whatever kind of bolt/screw head they had are long gone.

Thanks

It's good to be back.

1. They are the correct size for '81-'91 W126ers, and if you don't mind that they look filthy, with curb rash, and may be bent, and you might get charged $500 to ship them if you don't ask first, then they are a good deal.

2. Dial, dial, ring, ring. That's the landlord's problem, not yours. (assuming you rent.)

Good to have you back.

I am correct in thinking they will fit my 108. Right?

Nah, I own. My wife dials dials and ring rings me.

Someone else can verify for certain, (I don't know for sure) but probably they could, if the 108 came standard with 14" wheels. Verify any offset and spacer issues first, also. Even if you don't need them, and you have the space, and seller in Colorado is nearby, maybe you should get them and haul them home. At least, you should have a proper
spare tire and wheel for the car in your trunk.

What does your owners manual say? I have seen lots of '72 and '73 280SEL 4.5 sedans in California with bundt cake wheels, that I'm almost certain that was the stock rim for them.

The 280SEL 4.5 is SUCH a stately looking automobile, and the note of their exhaust is so seductive, like no other Mercedes, with its distinctive rasp, I always noticed it when one drove by, and admired it from when I was real young and never even dared aspire to a luxury car like that.

I was expecting to see your toilet held down with lug bolts.

Just saw the bolt head off from the bottom of the tank with a hacksaw, then take a 16# nail and come up from the bottom and gently tap the top part out into the tank. Very gently so you don't crack the tank. I suppose you could drill it from the top too, but I think this would be very difficult because you couldn't use an awl or punch to make a seat for the drill bit to start in.

In caes anyone ever runs into this I just needed some vise grips clamped on the piece of exposed bolt between the toilet and the tank. Didn't even have to pull the toilet.

14" bundt cake wheels were last used on the w126 chassis for the 1985 model year. 1986-91 went to 15's with a different appearance.

I think this style of wheel was offered on the w108-w109 late in their lifecycle:

I think I missed out. The guy hasn't gotten back to me in a few days.

It's alright though, I really had nowhere to store them until I replaced the others.....then I would have had no place to store them.

I need a bigger garage.
