Thumbs up *** Taking one for the Troopers... ***

My assistant at work, a few months ago, had a friend take him over to the Wisconsin State Patrol Academy Training Center (at Fort McCoy, WI.), and he ended up being a "training aid" for the troopers that needed testing subjects for drunk driving ("Walk the line...," "...lift your left foot, count to 30...," etc....).

Yep, the State "pastered" my assistant (for free) and he sacrificed his body for the better good of the State. At least in helping them determine what level of drunk was really drunk (He "blew" a 0.16 and he ended up a passenger in his own vehicle when the whole thing was done...).

This Thurday, I get to do the same thing...

Any of you ever been involved in a similiar program?

How drunk can you get?

A long time ago a forward thinking bar in Redwood City, Calif. installed a breathalyzer on their premises so the customers could monitor their own BAC, and then, not drive home if they "blew" into the tube and showed they were over the legal limit to drive.

But the device had to be removed when the device was being used by all the customers to have contests to see who could get the most drunk, and prove it by "blowing " the highest number on the machine.

I saw the original wording, and was perplexed that it made no sense. Mostly, I was reminded of the old WKRP episode where they were doing such a thing on the air. It didn't end up as expected; or maybe it did.

I got pulled over for speeding when I was in high school by two officers in a patrol car.

After checking my license and registration, the officer walked back to my car with his young partner, and told me they'd make me a deal.

If I was willing to let his partner practice administering a sobriety test at the side of the road, they'd wave the ticket.

I more than happily complied, but got a lot of stares by drivers as they passed by.
