Feeling guilty about Driving my Gasser!!!

Do you guys feel as guilty as me when you even start your old Benz? Images of global warming, Children starving in Africa, Hurricanes just go through my mind when I even start the car. I guess it is time to let go and buy a Prius and move to Seattle. What are everyone thoughts on this??

Move to a bubble with recycleable air and slowly die. Then you'll feel better. Guilt is a worthless emotion without action. If you feel bad about the world's state of affairs, do something to improve it.

PS - "Children starting in Africa"? Births happen here in America too, you know.

Children starving in Africa? What the hell has that got do do with driving an old Benz? You realise most of the reprobate dictators in Africa who'se people are starving cruise around in top of the line Mercedes. Not to mention that most of the road transportation by heavy truck in Africa is by Mercedes. Wasting money on a new car rather than using an old one that's long since pulled it's iron ore from the ground is not helping the environment in any way. You might use a little less gas in a prius but making the thing used a hell of a lot more natural resources very recently than your 20 year old Benz.

Being cold and heartless, no. In fact my plan is to sell my '00 Wrangler and buy a mid- to late-60's 4x4 pickup to put a plow and dump body on so I can avoid the state emission testing and lower my local tax burden since my elected officials have no desire to do it for me.

Kind of reminds me of a very harsh bumper sticker my ex wife wanted to put on the Volvo we had, a snide and arch swipe at all those bay area/Berkeley Volvo bumper stickers, "Save the whales", "You can't hug your kid with nuclear arms", "I share the road with bicycles" blah blah blah

At least you're not buying a new car every 4 years.

Our son just bought an 04 Diesel Excursion,,,, I love it and if I even had the slightest need for one I'd have it in a minute. BTW,,, no, I'm not worried about global warming.

That's how I feel as well.

How much FF does it take to make new steel, plastic, ..., ...

I would move to a 'better' comuter if the opurtunity came along, but I think it worse to throw away a so large a tool when it still works well.

I continually find ways to increase fuel consumption, although only as a biproduct of moving faster. And when that gets old, upgrade to a Ferrari.

Global Warming

The Mercedes is not even my daily driver. It is a Sunday Driver. My daily drivers are a SUbaru and a Toyota. I have been toying with the idea of getting a diesel for a while. They are much better for the environment and if Burning Veggie oil even better. Half the country is doig the same thing as well. The problem is the price of good diesel cars are going higher and higher. What to do?

Nope, no guilt here!

You should "talk out" these guilt issues with your psychologist. Will put you on different meds.

Are you Jewish? Ahh... that's the reason.

Guilt issues? That's an old Catholic joke.
