Do you play the lottery?

Do you play the lottery? If so, how much do you spend and how often do you play?

I play two lotteries - Powerball and Arizona Pick, once a week, three dollars apiece. That's six dollars a week.

I have won small amounts up to $500.00 before.

It's well worth the six dollars a week just to imagine what I'd do with the millions at stake. New houses, exotic cars etc...

A friend at work told me that I "was just wasting my money". I informed him that as slim as the chances of my winning, I had a 100% better chance than he did, because he doesn't play at all.

Sometimes when either lottery is really big I play twice a week (that's $12.00) OMG!!

Maybe thats the best way to look at it. Your chances of winning are about zero, but your buying a nice daydream

I don't ever play, because I doubt that I would win and I don't have enough money to warrant doing such a thing. However, I do have to support the lottery to a certain extent because it is paying for most of my tuition.

I'll grab a ticket once in a while when I have extra cash, and the cashier doesn't look like they'd care that I'm under 18.. Won $200 before, sent my mom to claim it, she wouldn't do it until I gave her 10%!

I only play when the cash jackpot gets to within about 75% of the odds. I figure I'm good for about $25 a year for lottery tickets.

I never used to play it. The fact that I do now seems like a sad commentary on my life at this point in time.

Still, it's good for a few daydreams until they announce the winning numbers.

i am even on the lottery.

no losses, no investment.

i detest the government being in this detestible method of gaining revenue from folks who can least afford it.

At least it's VOLUNTARY taxation. I'll say that much for it.

Besides that, even the winners lives are seldon imprioved by winning. More often, it seems to actually ruin their lives.

I buy one ticket. Buying two, three or ten will not improve your chances much. So for a buck, It's cheap entertainment to dream about new MB's

Yeah I hear that is true. (this is a response to post #9)

In Indiana, half of the income from it is spent trying to convince people it is somehow a "good investment", kindof like an IRA.

Now our (genius) governor is trying to sell it off, kindof like he sold off the Northern (I-80) toll road. Never mind the promise in the beginning that once paid for it would be free.

If these folks can't afford it, then they shouldn't do it. If the government can raise income voluntarily, then good for them. But they won't get my money.

That's pretty much how I play it. When the Lotto or Powerball get into the huge numbers I'll drop $10 on some quick picks. I know I have zero chance of winning but, man, is it nice to dream about all I could do with that money for a few days. That's pretty much the only time I play unless someone gives me a ticket in a birthday card or something.
